Frequently Asked Questions
How do I split PDF pages by range?
Upload your PDF, keep "Extract page range" selected, and type the pages you want — for example 1-3, 5, 8-10 grabs pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 into a single new PDF. Page numbers start at 1, ranges use a dash, and separate items with commas.
Can I split a PDF into separate files every N pages?
Yes. Choose "Split every N pages", enter N, and each chunk becomes its own downloadable PDF — for example N=10 on a 45-page document gives you five files (10+10+10+10+5).
Is this PDF splitter really free, and is my file uploaded anywhere?
Yes, it is completely free with no signup, and no — your file is never uploaded. The splitting happens inside your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library, so your document never leaves your device.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no artificial limit, but very large PDFs (hundreds of megabytes) are processed in your browser's memory, so a smaller file will split faster. If a huge file feels slow, try closing other tabs first.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Splitting works at the page level, so scanned/image-only PDFs split exactly the same as text PDFs — no text extraction is involved.
Can I rearrange or merge pages too?
This tool only splits. To rearrange pages, extract the ranges you want in the order you want them (each as its own run) — for merging, look for a PDF merge tool instead.
