PFT performance bands
270–300 Outstanding · 240–269 Excellent · 210–239 Good · 180–209 Satisfactory · below 180 Needs improvement. As a rule of thumb, aim for at least 60 points in every event — a weak event drags the total down fast.
FAQ
What is a good PFT score?
240+ is a strong score by most military-style standards; 270+ is outstanding. For official record tests, "good" depends on your branch, age and gender — check the official scoring table.
Which event matters most?
The run. It is the only event where most people leave big points on the table — dropping 30 seconds off your 1.5-mile time is usually worth more than 10 extra push-ups.
How often should I test?
Every 4–6 weeks is enough to track progress without burning out. Test under the same conditions (rested, same surface, 2-minute strict form) so scores are comparable.
